Who’s behind veryuu?
We are Kathrin and Gunnar. What unites us is the belief that every gift deserves a stage — even digitally — and, of course, our love.
Kathrin, what is the emotional origin of veryuu?
veryuu grew out of a very quiet, personal need: the desire for anticipation.
There was a time when our everyday life consisted of doctor appointments, check-ups, and waiting. Not loud, fascinating, or trendy — but intense. And amidst all that, a simple, strong question emerged: How do you keep hope, lightness, and confidence alive?
Back then, I began consciously creating anticipation. As a little countdown: four days to go, three days to go, one day — until home, until normality, until the next beautiful moment. This anticipation became an inner anchor.
From this grew the idea of digital gifting.
Not as a product. But as a feeling.
Something you can open, on the go, spontaneously. It grew step by step. With expectation. With glimmers of light. Hope. Vision.
veryuu is based on this experience: that anticipation has power. That waiting becomes easier when there’s something to look forward to. And that gifting — even digitally — can be exactly that: a quiet companion saying, “Something wonderful is coming.” — something you can open.
What drives you personally?
It was never about “career” or “success.” It was the quiet, deep conviction that this idea could bring something good into the world.
veryuu was created in many small moments — often early in the morning, when the house was still and the children were asleep. These were my times for thinking, dreaming, and creating.
I believe that things can be built with heart and integrity — even slowly, even with detours. Especially when life is full. veryuu is proof to me that visions can find space, even between everyday life, responsibilities, and family. And that from this, something truly special can emerge.
I have been deeply exploring since 2015 how to stage joy beautifully in the digital world. The first version of veryuu went online in 2018. What began as the idea of “giving joy digitally” gradually became the “digital gift wrapping.”
I have always loved gifting. For me, unwrapping is a magic of its own. I am a developer, a non-giver-upper, a journalist, a designer — and above all, someone who loves creating little dream worlds. My goal is that everyone can experience this special moment, whether analog or digital.
Why do you think digital gifting has developed so little until now?
Because no one really focused on the unwrapping moment. Honestly, it’s almost ironic: almost everything has advanced technically in the tiniest detail — complex, sophisticated, perfected.
Gifting, however, despite being a huge market, has basically stayed the same: paper wraps the gift. Bow on top. Done. Functional, but never truly understood as an experience, a market, or an emotional topic. That’s exactly the gap veryuu fills.
Technology has been functional, but not emotional. Yet digital is far from cold — it can sparkle, surprise, connect.
Gunnar, what is your role at veryuu?
I bring the entrepreneurial perspective to this gifting world. I’ve worked in finance, and earlier in advertising agencies. I make sure creative visions work within a business framework. Sustainability is important to me — both privately and professionally — which aligns perfectly with the veryuu idea. I joined in 2023 and immediately saw the potential of this concept.
What is your vision for the future?
We want to redefine digital gifting. Move away from loveless printouts and email attachments toward magical experiences. Gifts should be given worldwide, anytime, with real emotion — and, most importantly, unwrapped with shining, hopeful eyes.
Your motto in one sentence?
veryuu — here, you gift magically beautiful.
